This camera is for amateur photographers who can’t afford a DSLR, April 9, 2011 – By Look-N-Grin

Pros: Everyone thinks it’s a DSLR, it’s 12.2 megapixels, HD video, 18x zoom, small and compact, big LCD screen, has a electronic viewfinder, advanced settings, self explanatory buttons, cheap price, great macro shots, autofocus and zooms while filming, uses double A batteries I’m safe if my camera dies, shutter speed for light graffiti, you can put lens filters using an adapter on it

Cons: I have to buy a lot of batteries, not good for people who know nothing about photography, the quality of pictures is a hit or miss, no official lenses or filters made by Fujifilm

Great Camera – Great Price!, April 1, 2011 – By Deanna Lynn Kane “DEANNA” (BELLEROSE, NEW YORK USA)

I am by no means a professional photographer, but I like to take high quality photos. For the past several years I have exclusively owned Panasonic Lumix FZ series cameras and have loved them. I like DSLR type cameras because they are more sturdy and have more features than point and shoot cameras. My most recent camera was a Panasonic FZ35 that I paid $329 for. By accident I dropped it and it broke. It was still under warranty, but I was told it could take weeks or months to get it repaired by Panasonic’s repair company.

In the meantime I needed a camera because I am a seller on ebay and I have to take photos of my products. I was in a pinch and borrowed my mom’s Canon PowerShot A470. It was a horrible camera! The photos came out blurry, the exposure was way off and my pictures looked dreadful. The only way I could take a decent photo with that camera was if I had a tripod and the photo was taken outdoors. I was desperate for a cheap camera that would take quality photos.

With both fingers crossed behind my back, I purchased the Fuji S1800. I saw a few negative reviews stating that the photo quality was lacking. However, I was looking for more than just a point and shoot camera and one that was similar to my favorite Panasonic Lumix DSLR type cameras. As soon as I received this one I took it out of the box and fired it up. It was a nice looking camera and was almost identical in looks to my favorite Lumix FZ series DSLR type cameras. I was nervous because I hoped I didn’t just waste my money. At first the pictures came out horrible! They were blurry, out of focus and had a lot of noise.

I was really mad! I felt like an idiot for buying this camera and wasting my hard earned money. Just when I was about to throw in the towel, I decided to calm down, and play around with the different features. I am not the type of person that likes to follow manuals. When I started tweaking the camera’s different features, it became clear to me that the problem was not with the camera, but with myself and my impatience. By lowering the ISO to 64, and playing with all the other menu selections I was able to take excellent, clear photographs of high quality that were definitely comparable to my Panasonic Lumix FZ35.

All you have to do is to use the features of this camera and you will get very nice photos. It is not a basic point and shoot camera. If you want one of those than don’t buy this one.

When my Panasonic Lumix FZ35 comes back from the repair shop, I don’t think I will use it. I really like this one and it is a winner. For the price it has great features and was worth the purchase.
