Extra fun for the pool, April 19, 2011 – By Bruce Elting
Have had the Kodak PlaySport for 2 weeks, what fun!
A month ago I bought the GE DV1 while it was $80. 1st time in the pool it leaked and no longer worked. For the 2 minutes the DV1 worked the underwater pictures were great. Since I returned the DV1 I wanted to get something else for in the pool. I read many, many reviews. There were always negative reviews and always 5 star reviews. I finally decided on the Kodak PlaySport based on price, I’m very glad I did. I have had it in the pool numerous times now.
The pros are:
It is actually waterproof! (I’ve never gone below a foot or 2)
Picture quality (I set it at 720p/60fps)
Rechargable battery
HDMI connecton (cable included!)
USB connection is not a flimsy flip out, but a connector and cable
Compact and light weight
Price
Cons are:
Does not have a button to take still pictures (GE DV1 did)
After coming out of the water the mic is muffled
Overall I’m very happy with this camcorder. I’d recommend it for people wanting to take videos of kids in the pool.
Good product for the price, April 18, 2011 – By RoBMoNeY
Quick and dirty.
Pros- Small, lightweight, and durable. HD quality is really good. It records a great picture, and with a decent size memory card, you can really take alot of footage. I would advise purchasing an extra battery, just to have.
Cons- This product records in .MOV files. Grainy Low light/image stabilization regardless of setting. Battery.
Overall, this product is a good buy for the money. It is very convenient, and the picture quality is great. The crap part is that the camera records in .mov which is virtually impossible to edit on a windows based PC. You will have to convert it to a windows applicable video file, which is hinder the original quality. I’ve spent more money on point and clicks, and had worse quality. Very good for an on the go family who wants an out of the pocket camera.
